Located high in the U.S. Rockies, Crested Butte is often called the last great ski town in America. This title was confirmed when Crested Butte won the title as the number 1 Ski Town in the United States in Powder Magazine’s Ski Town Throw Down.
It is only fitting that the best ski town in America is home to what Frontgate Magazine called One of America’s Finest Homes.
Welcome to Hassford Gulch.
The Elk Mountains fill the skyline of the Gunnison Valley, and overlooking the 5th hole of the Club at Crested Butte is Hassford Gulch. A modern masterpiece inspired by the manor homes of the 19th century. The 7,800 square foot home was constructed and designed with materials from around the world. The white oak ceiling were reconditioned from an old warehouse in Pennsylvania, antique cooking pots from India have been repurposed as sink basins, and the leaded glass from a Philadelphia Pub are the center point of the Franklin Hallway.
Crested Butte is an outdoor paradise. Truly a 4 season town, Crested Butte started as did many Colorado Ski Towns as a mining town. In the 1860 & 70’s silver and coal were the main stay industries in the area. As mining began to fade Crested Butte struggled to find its place. Then in the 1960’s the skiers discovered the powder of Crested Butte rivaled that of any ski town. The Crested Butte Mountain Resort has been attracting Ski Enthusiast ever since.
As winter slowly turns to summer, activities go from skiing to Mountain Biking, Hiking, Rock Climbing, Fishing and Golf.
For those desiring a mountain lifestyle without the pretentiousness of some of the other Colorado ski towns Crested Butte offers the perfect alternative. Consider Crested Butte, world class amenities in a town where everybody will know your name, and more importantly become your friend.
Hassford Gulch and everything Crested Butte has to offer is heading to auction on July 28, 2014. To learn more about how you can make this yours click here.
